The World Travel Awards 2018, in its 25th edition, awarded the “Machu Picchu Best Tourist Attraction of 2018” to Machu Picchu, recognition granted by critics and international tourists who visited the Inca citadel.
This award is quite a recurring honor as Peru has been receiving several travel awards throughout the years. Furthermore, it solidifies that “Promperu” is excellently promoting the country in international competitions.
Machu Picchu is an impressive archeological complex that houses a wide variety of ecosystems, which is why it was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1983, as well as one of the world’s new wonders.
In addition to obtaining the best tourist attraction prize during the World Travel Awards, Peru also won two other awards. According to the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (Promperú).
The other awards were for Best Culinary Destination of 2018 and Best Cultural destination 0f 2018. Both of these awards are thanks to the Peruvian people’s large variety of cultural diversity and gastronomy.
