The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

Due to the effects of Covid19 on the travel industry, several of our clients were forced to move Machu Picchu tours and trips from 2020 to the 2021 travel season.

When you add this to all the new bookings for 2021, we expect spaces to fill up quite fast.

There will be a few differences in how our multi-day hikes are operated in comparison to previous years.

Below we’ll go over a few of the details pertaining to 2021 Inca trail reservations

2021 Inca trail Group Size

2 Day Inca Trail
2 Day Inca Trail

In the 2021 hiking season, all Inca trail groups will see a reduction in group sizes.

We have always kept group sizes to the minimum however the 2021 Inca trail will see even smaller groups.

The new adjustment will see the Inca trail have a maximum of 6 hikers per outing. This does not include guides, porters, or cooks that also come along the hike.

Machu Picchu group tours as a whole will be smaller so this is just adjusting all services to the new sizes.

2021 Inca Trail Including Huayna Picchu

Permits for Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu will also be limited, there will be around 250 permits available each day to hike to Huayna Picchu when making 2021 Inca trail reservations.

Local authorities have stated that this is done in order to keep crowds socially distanced while hiking up the mountain peak.
