Amazon Wildlife and Early Morning Adventures

In the Amazon, the first light of day is a magical time when wildlife is most active, taking advantage of the cooler temperatures—and so will you! While you’re on vacation, our guides will encourage early-morning activities that are well worth the effort.

Explore Tres Chimbadas Oxbow Lake

A short journey of 30 minutes by boat and a 45-minute hike from Posada Amazonas brings you to Tres Chimbadas, a serene oxbow lake teeming with life. Glide across the water on a catamaran as you search for the resident family of nine giant river otters—seen by about 60% of visitors—and other fascinating lakeside creatures such as caimans, hoatzins, and horned screamers. Otters are most active between dawn and 8 or 9 AM, making this an unforgettable morning experience.

Discover Traditional Medicine at Centro Ñape
